What is the shooting course required by law?

STAGE 1 @ 3 YARDS (20 total )
1 shot 5 times = 5 shots / 2 seconds each
2 shots 5 times = 10 shots / 3 seconds each
5 shots 1 time = 5 shots / 10 seconds


STAGE 2 @ 7 YARDS (20 total)
5 shots 1 time = 5 shots / 10 seconds
2 shots 1 time = 2 shots / 4 seconds
3 shots 1 time = 3 shots / 6 seconds
1 shot 5 times = 1 shot / 3 seconds
5 shots 1 time = 5 shots / 15 seconds


STAGE 3 @ 15 YARDS (10 total)
2 shots 1 time = 2 shots / 6 seconds
3 shots 1 time = 3 shots / 9 seconds
5 shots 1 time = 5 shots / 15



What is the cost?

The Texas Department of Public Safety charges $40.00 for your initial application. Ronski CHL charges $70.00 for the basic class and $60.00 for First Responders. Use the links below to pay online.

What do you need to bring to class?

Pen or Pencil
Snacks and drinks are allowed in the class, smoking or tobacco use is not
Full payment for the class per person. We accept cash



Mandatory Equipment for the Range

Hearing protection (over-the-ear "muff" type is mandatory...ear plugs alone are not sufficient)
Eye protection (safety glasses, or shatter-proof corrective vision glasses are sufficient)
Ball cap or hat
Handgun (.32 caliber minimum) secured in a gun case -- to be left in your vehicle until instructed otherwise
At least 50 rounds of factory ammunition (no non-factory reloaded ammunition allowed)



How long is the class?

The initial application is 4-6 hrs
